BASIC BOATING LAWS

Posted on April 1st, 2010 by paul in Boat Safety & Laws

Basic boating laws are essential to being safe on the water, that you, your family and friends do not get hurt. Some topics are very informative for you to be safe on the water. The first thing you wanna do is travel responsibly. Travel in only the areas your boat is permitted, also only operate your boat in areas open to your type of boat. Carry approved life jackets for everyone on the boat.

Always drive at a safe speed. Prior to departing you always wanna designate someone to be co captain to help out to watch out for objects, other boaters, and swimmers. Never go boating alone it can be very dangerous. When moving your boat always balance the load, even the objects that are stored away inside. Always respect others, and be courteous to others on the water. Also keep the noise down when around the shore.

Always educate yourself, the more you know the more helpful it is in knowing the rules of the water. The things you will need to have on your boat is as follows: (GPS) navigational system, fire extinguisher, warning flares, owners manual, extra clothing, drinking water, sunscreen and charts and maps of your destination. We all have to be model citizens and clean up after ourselves, and make sure all waste is properly disposed of. When putting fuel in your boat try to make sure you do not get any in the water, as this can kill wildlife. Make sure you clean all your gear before and after a trip on the water. There it will stop the spread of any species.

At the launch prior to leaving you will want to drain all live wells, bilge water and transom wells. Remember always never disturb any wild life, and always keep your distance if you do encounter any wildlife.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
